Every year for 21 years now, the most gourmet festival in town, Festival Montréal en Lumière, has been lighting up the Entertainment District, located few steps from HOTEL10, to celebrate winter in Montreal. February, the shortest month of the year, is also one of the most exciting times. Animated outdoor activities, unique gastronomic events, original light interactive works, varied and eclectic shows and performances attract crowds and make this great festival a must-see for winter in Montreal. To find your way among the incomparable offer of events and activities offered from February 20, here are the suggestions from HOTEL10.

La Place des Festivals is the head quarter of Festival Montréal en Lumière

The Gourmet quarter

Very popular last year, the Gourmet Quarter was inaugurated during the last edition of the Festival, during which it welcomed more than 15,000 visitors. The Gourmet Quarter is an interior space where it is possible to eat well, drink well, make culinary discoveries and learn more about the major gastronomic trends of the moment. The Gourmet Quarter is located in the heart of the Montréal en Lumière outdoor site, on the 2nd floor of La Maison du Festival. Access is free and combines culinary discoveries and major trends in gastronomy through around fifty activities! Taste local products, buy ready-to-eat meals, attend themed happy hours (including one in tribute to Quebec wines and one, local spirits), and discover the culinary richness of the Îles-de-la -Madeleine, the region highlighted this year.

Montréal en Lumière is definitely the “highlight” of February

La Nuit Blanche

La «Nuit blanche» attracts festival-goers until the middle of the night: more than 200 artistic and cultural activities (most of which are free) are taking place across the city … all night long! Flagship event of the Montréal en Lumière festival, La Nuit Blanche revolves around three districts and a pole (Le Quartier des Spectacles) and, for the occasion, the subway remains open all night and a shuttle service allows quick trips from one neighbourhood to the other. Find the winter wonderland on the Place des Festivals and underground passages transformed into artistic corridors with the amazing Art underground exhibition.

La Nuit Blanche will take place on February 29

The Gourmet night

The 2nd edition of the Gourmet Night will be held on February 22, 2020 as of 6 p.m. Its mission: to make and rediscover gastronomy and culinary talents from here through a host of night time gourmet activities, as well as to animate different districts during winter. For one evening exclusively, a hundred addresses – restaurants, bars, bakeries, delicatessens, pastries, etc. – will keep their doors open late in order to provide participants with unique gourmet experiences. Our suggestion: take this opportunity to discover the new food hall “Manger Montréal” Le Central which will open the doors of its 25 gourmet restaurants and counters until 3 am with DJ and entertainment for the occasion. You can even walk there from HOTEL10!

Underground Art

Also held during this time is the Art Souterrain Festival which brings together each year, from February 20 to March 14, 2020, more than 100 recognized artists whose works are exhibited on a 7 KM route in the heart of the Montreal underground network. It offers a program of diversified activities such” as workshops, conferences and artistic performances. Depart from HOTEL10 towards Place-des-Arts metro station and let yourself be enchanted by the Montreal «underground» and the extraordinary artistic installations that will dress it for the occasion. February has never been so exciting!
